The SPG-812 (OP/F) digital test set module is one of the newest modules to be developed in the Genflex family. The SPG-812 (OP/F) digital test set module allows the user to select from sixteen different digital video test patterns by a front panel switch or through a remote control unit the 812TRC.

When genlocking to incoming video the SPG-812 chassis will have either an analog SPG-812 (OP/C) or a digital SPG-812 (OP/D) genlock module in slot #2. This module places the timing pulses down the motherboard buss. The SPG-812(OP/F) digital test set module then uses these pulses to horizontal lock the PLL on the module and reset the vertical and horizontal counters within the complex programmable logic devices. This times up all counters by an external reference.

The SPG-812 (OP/F) digital test set module can go in any slot except the digital/analog audio test set and power supply slot. (Fig.1). When placed in the genlock slot #1 the SPG-812 (OP/F) digital test set module becomes the master and applies the correct timing pulses down the motherboard and all other modules slave to it. The SPG-812 (OP/F) digital test set module cannot genlock to external video when placed in the genlock slot it can only run on its internal time base or free run mode. When the SPG-812 (OP/F) is running in its free run mode a front panel control adjusts the frequency of the VCXO.

Each output module is available for 525/60 (NTSC) or 625/50 (PAL) operation. There are three outputs per module and each module has its own independent infinite timing adjustments. A dual audio tone generator is available to provide Silent, 0dB, -10dB and -20dB levels.

The 812-OP/F is the plug-in module that provides 16 SDI serial digital (SDI) test signals. The test signals are:

  5) 5-step un-modulated stairstep
  6) modulated ramp
  7) un-modulated ramp
  8) 2T/12.5T pulse & bar
  9) field square wave
10) SDI pathological pattern
11) 50% multiburst
12) 100% line sweep
13) red field
14) shallow ramp
15) gray
16) black.

The PCO-818 automatic pulse change-over modules operate as independent or synchronized operation. Two PCO-818 change-over chassis may be interlinked to cause all modules to switch should a failure occur in the master generator.
